Sam's 21st Birthday

Hey everyone...

I'm Sam, and I'm turning 21 in 3 months.

I know that turning 21 is a "big one". But, as I'm not really into the reasons that it's a big one, I wanted to make it matter in my own way. That way is by "giving it up" to instead collect donations to bring clean water (something we have always had, and sometimes take for granted) to those who don't have it.

People suffering in countries without access to clean water are forced to give up a lot. Women and children forfeiting work and school to walk dangerous miles to find water -- water that isn't even clean. Even beyond work and school, many people, especially children, are forced to give up the most precious thing anyone has -- their lives. 4,500 children die daily from water-related diseases. A mere $20 can save 1 person from that dreadful fate. But, the amount doesn't matter. Even donating $1 is $1 more than we had before!

My goal is to raise (and exceed if at all possible) $5,000 to fund a water project, which builds a well and therefore gives an entire community (roughly 250 people) fresh running water for years to come.

I believe this has the potential to be something really cool and really amazing. But I can't do it alone. I need YOUR help. Whether it be donating, or helping spread the word, or both. Let's all make a difference together.

Forget about the fact that it's "my" birthday campaign. Don't think of it as donating in lieu of gifts for someone. It's not for me. Think of it as giving children in need clean water, and therefore giving them life. Because that's what you're doing. Providing funds for water is saving lives. $20 = save one life, $40 = save two, etc, etc. Let's save these lives together!
