2 years ago I turned 30.
(Shut it)
My wife surprised me by sending me skydiving with my friends. (I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a littttle suspicious that she was going after my life insurance, but then I remembered I wasn't actually worth that much.)
I'd wanted to skydive for as long as I could remember, and honestly--it lived up to my fantasy. It was a rush. We went up to 18,000 feet and jumped. In fact, I think there's a hideously embarrassing video of the whole ordeal on YouTube.
I think we spent about $320 for that birthday, and truly, it was one I'll never forget.
This year I want to try something else I'll never forget, and I want it to be something that many other people will never forget as well.
Instead of merely making a memory though, I want this year to make a difference. You probably know by now that nearly 1 Billion (with a "B") people don't have access to safe drinking water. This is unacceptable. So let's do something already.
Instead of gifts and cards and facebook happy birthdays, let's make a mark. Here's the challenge: I want to raise $10,000 that will go (100%) to providing clean drinking water for 500 people. It'd be amazing.
And quite literally, life changing.
What I spent on myself a couple years ago, I want to spend for this cause, this year. I have to believe that it actually is better to give than to receive. I have to believe that it's life giving to be life giving. And I have to believe that changing a life--or a village!--forever is way better than hitting 200mph in a freefall for 60 seconds.
Wanna help? I pray that you will.
Happy Birthday Aaron! Thanks for blessing us each week at Grace
