In our culture water is H20, the polar molecule with a neutral pH of 7 and a molecular weight of 18.015 g/mol. Benjamin Franklin once said, “Only when the well is dry, do we know the worth of water”. You and I may understated the chemical and physical properties of water, but we do not respect nor appreciate its true worth. A West African proverb candidly explains a key issue facing millions of communities today, “Filthy water cannot be washed”. Once a water supply is contaminated or depleted, the community reliant on that sources falls into an imprisoning circle; a community struggling for mere survival cannot invest in a brighter future.

Solving the water crisis right now is not only about saving lives but changing lives, empowering lives, giving people the dignity to plan and work for their future. Providing a well in a community is the #1 way to improve education, build small businesses, and progress the standard of living.

We are two cousins, students, members of the University of Nebraska - Lincoln Cycling Club. Commencing a journey for the betterment of ourselves and our world. Cycling from the cornfields of Nebraska to the oceans of Massachusetts. Riding 2,000 miles in 6 weeks: eating, sleeping, camping, DRINKING FRESH WATER.

Being the catalysts in the creation of a well, supplying deserved clean water to communities abroad, join us in our goal of raising $5000 by June 29, 2012.
