Hello friends- new and old!

I've been blessed with so many opportunities just because of where I was born and the family I've been blessed with. I've never gone without or known the pain or reality of true poverty. Even as a young child I aspired for that "American dream" of wealth, security, and status.

After several trips to impoverished communities (both in the states and abroad), God truly opened my eyes and tuned my heart to how truly blessed I am. I was rescued from a slippery slope of thinking I'm entitled and actually began to crave more simplicity in my life. He opened my heart to a life that serves Him and an understanding that nothing that I have belongs to me; that should share my blessings. My heart has grown extremely sensitive (maybe too much so!) and there really isn't anything that makes me any different from my brothers and sisters throughout the world, save my need of Christ's love.

I've been interested in clean:water projects for years but never really knew how (or wasn't as committed to learning how) to get involved on a larger scale. charity:water has been a catalyst for that and I'm so excited to begin this first charity:water campaign. A friend (thanks Josh) made me more familiar with charity:water and the Sept. birthday campaign. For my 27th birthday, in lieu of gifts, dinners, etc., I'd like donations for my charity:water campaign! Yes, I've set a lofty goal of $5,000 in a short amount of time! Shooting for the moon! Stay posted for events associated with the birthday campaign or ones in the works for afterward!
