We're so excited for June to get here! We also know that some of you are interested in helping us get a few essentials to help start our journey together. We can't thank you enough, but we want to encourage you to think about something...

During my mission trip to Kenya, Africa, I saw a lot of poverty. I left there wondering if there was anything I could do to help. I'm just one man. I don't have millions of dollars. I don't have political power of any kind. What can I do? I just told God I was available, if there was a way I could do something–I would.

Some weeks ago, I came across a charity that specializes in building fresh water wells. After a few days of browsing around the site, and reading Donald Miller's book, "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years: What I Learned While Editing My Life," I was really encouraged to look at my life-story. I was encouraged to live outside my box, my own personal world full of safe things.

So I sat down with Niki, and explained what I was thinking. I showed her the site, talked with her a little about what I felt God was saying, and told her of my promise to Him. Without hesitation, she said, "We need to do this!" Her heart, like mine, was led to this?

Niki and I are in no lack of love and support, but there are millions of people in this world that don't even have clean water where they live, and as a result, drink, bathe, and cook in/with unhealthy water. We're asking you to consider, as a wedding gift to us, contributing to "Charity:Water." Charity:Water is a legit organization, check it out for yourself.

We'll be fine and will appreciate any gifts, we've even registered at Bed, Bath, and Beyond– but the gift of clean water for people who need it all around the world beats a new crockpot any day!

This is a large work I've called you into, but don't be overwhelmed by it. It's best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won't lose out on a thing."
