This year I'm celebrating my birthday differently. I don't want presents or drinks. I want clean water.
When I was in Burundi over the Holidays, I learned that millions of kids in Africa don't live to see their 5th birthday because they don't have access to clean, safe drinking water. I saw so many walking along the roads carrying heavy yellow jerry cans. And the worst part is that the water they collect can make them really sick.
So for my 37th birthday, you and I can actually do something about it.
I'm asking for my age in dollars from everyone I know. Every penny of the money raised will directly fund clean water projects in developing countries. After doing a bunch of research I found charity: water and really liked their approach. They will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the impact we made. I can't think of a better birthday gift.
