I'm turning 13 on September 18th. I can't help but remember that every day there are about 1,400 children who die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. Over a year's time, that's tens of thousands of kids who won't make it to celebrate their 13th birthdays. My little brother in Ethiopia didn't even make it to age 2 because of the dirty drinking water we were forced to consume in our village.

I really believe it doesn't have to be this way. I believe that all the kids in the world should be able to celebrate their 13th birthdays. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world, like where I grew up in Ethiopia. There are solutions to this problem!

For my 13th birthday, I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me. I know that we can make it so no more kids like my brother have to die because of dirty water. We can actually stop this. It's totally possible! We just have to do it together.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped. How cool is that?! I love seeing the pictures of the communities I've helped in the past!
