Small sacrifices make a huge difference.
This year, as I turn a year older, I want to make some sacrifices for those in need.
Just like last year, I am donating my birthday to charity: water and I need your help. Instead of presents this year, I'm asking people to please make a donation to my campaign to raise $5,000 and help me bring clean water to 76 desperately needy people in Rwanda.
But, this year, I am also making some sacrifices for my health. My wife and I just started an 8-week challenge to lose weight and get in better shape. Every day, we can obtain a maximum of 6 points through various activities. We can also lose points if we forget to do something, or eat off-diet.
I am trying to lose 27 pounds for my 27th birthday! My commitment is that I will donate $1 for every POINT that I lose and I'm asking that you donate $1 for every POUND that I lose.
Together, I know that we can help these people have safe and clean drinking water!
I'll update this page weekly with my progress and make a donation at the beginning of every week for all lost points during the previous week.

Spring
Week 5 was a bit more rough than usual. Went to another movie (apparently our downfall) but then also had homecoming weekend. All told, 15 points lost, but I'm down 15 pounds, so I still feel like I can hit my goal, and regardless, I KNOW that this challenge has helped!
Week 4 went decent, but still threw a few diet points out the window. Workouts are getting better, but still need to be persistent on them.
Week 3 was better, but still not great. Didn't calculate weeks correctly last time, so I switched a few days around. 1 point from week 2 should have been on week 1, so I moved it. Going to see if I can get an actual calculation directly from the competition so I can track this better. Will definitely correct anything at the end if need be :-)
Week 2 was a bit more rough. I forgot to log AGAIN and we had two cheat days. I also didn't do some of my workouts. So, a total of 15 points lost. Even with the lost points, I still ate pretty well, but the scale didn't show any change. Still at 7 pounds lost. Will make next week better!
Week 1 was pretty good, but I forgot to track my points, and thus, I lost 6. I also missed a workout one day for a total of 7 points lost. However, I also lost 7 pounds! So excited!
